
Drilling Method
(For Bedrock Well)

- Locate well site
- Set up equipment
- Drill 10” hole to a depth of 20’ or to a sufficient depth to reach bed rock

Set 6-5/8” casing with 1” tremy pipe to bottom of hole

Hammer casing into bedrock (drive shoe).

- Pressure grout annular space between casing and bore hole with a concrete or bentonite clay grout, from the bottom of the casing to the surface.
- Hammer casing into bedrock (drive shoe)

- After an aquifer is encountered and a sufficient amount of water is determined, the tools are removed form the well, and drilling equipment is moved.
- With a 6” hammer drill out the bottom of the casing in search of water.

- The well is then chlorinated
- A GPS location is recorded
- The well is capped with a vermin proof cap
- An MOE (Ministry of Environment) tag is placed on the well head

- The MOE requires that a 1 hour pump test and 1 hour recovery test be performed for each new well in Ontario. The static level is measured at this time.
- A water well record is completed and submitted to the MOE, with a copy to the well owner.
